Beijing, December 3rd—The fourth China-CELAC Political Parties' Forum was held here today, under the theme "Gathering Political Party Strength for a China-LAC Community with a Shared Future". The event was attended by Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee; Waldemar Cerrón, General Secretary of Peru’s Free Peru Party and Second Vice President of the Congress of the Republic of Peru; Jorge Taiana, Head of International Relations for Argentina's Justicialist Party and former Foreign Minister of Argentina; Leonardo Resende, National Youth President of the Brazilian Democratic Movement; Lindy-Ann Dottin, Assistant General Secretary of Grenada’s National Democratic Congress; Rubén Campos, Panamanian "Realizing Goals" Party Leadership Committee Member and Central American Parliament Deputy; and Carlos Tubino, representative of the Popular Force Party of Peru and former president of the Foreign Relations Commission of Peru's Congress. About 200 representatives from nearly 100 political parties and regional political party organizations from 30 Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) countries, diplomatic envoys in China, and representatives from Chinese ministries, universities and think tanks attended the event. Ma Hui, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the opening ceremony.

In his keynote speech, Liu said, in 2014, President Xi Jinping met with leaders of LAC countries in Brasilia and proposed for the first time building a community with a shared future between China and LAC, which was widely and positively responded by LAC countries. Over the past decade, China and LAC have held high the banner of peaceful development and cooperation, and witnessed vigorous friendly cooperation in various fields. China-LAC relations have entered a new era of equality, mutual benefit, innovation, openness and benefiting the people. Not long ago, President Xi Jinping visited Latin America for the sixth time and met with many leaders of Latin American countries, charting the course for further deepening China-Latin America exchanges and cooperation in various fields and jointly building a China-Latin America community with a shared future in the new era. China is ready to deepen solidarity and coordination with LAC countries, seek common development and revitalization, and build the next golden decade of the China-LAC community with a shared future.

Liu said, since its establishment in 2015, the China-CELAC Political Parties' Forum has played an important role in promoting the exchange of ideas, policy communication and overall cooperation between China and LAC countries. In the face of the new situation and challenges, the CPC stands ready to work with political parties of LAC countries to strengthen political dialogue, enhance strategic mutual trust and play a leading role in promoting the stability and long-term development of the relations between China and LAC countries. The CPC is willing to fully tap the potential of "political parties +" cooperation, advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and accelerate our respective modernization efforts. The CPC is willing to deepen mutual learning and experience exchanges in state governance and administration, support each other in pursuing development paths suited to our respective national conditions, and effectively improve our capacity of party building and state governance. The CPC stands ready to strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges, actively promote exchanges and cooperation among trade unions, youth, women, think tanks, media and social organizations, and consolidate public support for the long-term development of the relations between China and LAC countries. The CPC stands ready to strengthen coordination and cooperation in international affairs, safeguard true multilateralism, increase the representation and voice of developing countries in the international governance system, and jointly foster a peaceful and stable regional and international security environment.

Hailing the long-standing friendship between LAC countries and China, the foreign guests said that Chinese modernization has offered valuable insights for LAC countries. The forum is an important platform for the exchange of ideas and governance experience. And political parties of LAC countries are willing to further strengthen inter-party exchanges and cooperation with the CPC and make greater contributions to the building of a community with a shared future between LAC countries and China. Taiana said, the relations between LAC countries and China have been strengthened significantly in recent years. China is an important and reliable partner of Latin America, and it is believed that China will play a more important role in the regional and international arena. Resende said that LAC countries are willing to strengthen institutionalized political dialogue with China, deepen cooperation in such fields as economy, trade, investment, education, culture and environmental protection, and strengthen coordination and cooperation in multilateral institutions such as the United Nations, the G20 and BRICS to better safeguard the common interests of the Global South. Dottin said that the Caribbean Community cherishes its relations with China, and appreciates and supports the global initiatives put forward by President Xi Jinping. Campos said that strengthening cooperation between LAC countries and China is crucial to jointly addressing global challenges, and inter-party exchanges help both countries create a better future on the basis of mutual respect, equality and sustainable development. Tubino said that LAC countries and China have achieved fruitful results in practical cooperation and Peru is willing to carry out various cooperation with China on the basis of equality and mutual benefit, and jointly safeguard free trade. Alberto Blanco Silva, Representative of the Communist Party of Cuba and Cuban Ambassador to China, said that China's efforts to build a community with a shared future for mankind have brought stability and opportunities to all countries in the world, including LAC countries. The Cuban side is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the CPC to continuously improve the well-being of the people and jointly safeguard true multilateralism.

Chinese and foreign representatives at the meeting also had in-depth discussions on topics such as "promoting modernization, improving people's well-being" and "strengthening political party building and enhancing governance capacity".
