Beijing, March 3rd—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with Andreas Motzfeldt Kravik, State Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway.
Liu said, last year, President Xi Jinping had a successful meeting with Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store, who was on a visit to China, charting the course for the future development of China-Norway relations. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Norwegian side to implement the latest consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, adhere to mutual respect, equal treatment, mutual benefit and win-win results, enhance mutual understanding and trust through exchanges and dialogues, and not let certain differences define bilateral relations. The world today sees increasing uncertainties and instabilities. The Chinese side has always firmly pursued an independent and peaceful foreign policy and is willing to, together with the Norwegian side, strengthen bilateral and multilateral coordination and jointly practice multilateralism.
Kravik said, Norway-China relationship is very important. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries more than 70 years ago, bilateral relations have achieved robust development. Norway cherishes its dialogue and cooperation with China and is willing to work with the Chinese side to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and further strengthen practical cooperation in economy, trade, green energy, marine affairs, etc. The Norwegian side attaches importance to China's international influence and appreciates China's important role in global governance. International affairs such as addressing climate change, countering terrorism, and better giving play to the role of the United Nations cannot be separated from China's participation and support. The Norwegian side is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with the Chinese side on international affairs, advocate multilateralism, and maintain world peace and stability.
The two sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues such as the Ukraine crisis.
Vebjoern Dysvik, Norwegian Ambassador to China, was present.
