Beijing, November 25th—The Communist Party of China (CPC) in Dialogue with Political Parties of Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC) 2024 event was held here today. The event was themed "China's Modernization and New Opportunities for China-CEEC Relations: Contribution of Political Parties". Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC) attended and delivered a keynote speech. Nearly 50 representatives of 19 political parties across 12 countries across Central and Eastern Europe, including Tsoncho Ganev, Deputy Chair of Bulgaria's Vazrazhdane party; Petar Petkovic, Member of the Presidium of the Serbian Progressive Party and Director of the Office for Kosovo of the Serbian Government; Simonida Kordic, Vice Chairman of Montenegro’s Nova Srpska Demokratija and Minister of Tourism; Lubos Blaha, Vice Chair of Slovakia's Direction-Social Democracy party; and Davorko Vidovic, President of Croatia's Social Democrats party and President of the Croatian Friendship Societies of Croatia, were present at the event.

Liu said, in 2012, the two sides jointly established a cooperation mechanism between China and Central and Eastern European countries, opening a new stage in the development of China-CEEC relations. In 2021, President Xi Jinping presided over the China-CEEC Leaders Summit to discuss cooperation and development plans with leaders of CEEC and draw a blueprint for the development of the relations between the two sides under the new situation. At a time when the world is facing a crucial choice between instability and peaceful development, China-CEEC cooperation has entered a crucial stage of building on past achievements and working for fresh progress. China is ready to work with CEEC to keep up with the trend of the times, strengthen the alignment of development strategies, advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, boost the development and revitalization of respective countries, and jointly create a broad future for the development of China-CEEC relations.

Liu said, the dialogue, now in its eighth year, has become an important institutional platform for exchanges and cooperation between the CPC and political parties of CEEC. China is comprehensively deepening reform to advance Chinese modernization, which will inject fresh momentum into global growth and bring historic opportunities for China and CEEC to expand and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation and bring more benefits to people of all countries. The CPC is ready to deepen strategic and conceptual communication with political parties of CEEC, and enhance governing capabilities through high-level mutual learning. The CPC is ready to strengthen solidarity and coordination, tap the potential of the "political party +" cooperation platform, and contribute to improving the quality and efficiency of China-CEEC cooperation. The CPC is willing to strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges and cooperation, promote the common values of mankind, and inject new impetus into the cause of human civilization. The CPC is willing to support each other's multilateral ideas and initiatives, work together to solve the difficulties in global governance, and make greater contributions to world peace and development.

The foreign guests said, in recent years, China has made great development achievements and set an example for the world, and China's development path provides a new choice for the world. Political parties of CEEC are willing to strengthen exchanges and dialogue with the CPC to enhance mutual understanding and promote the development of state-to-state relations and Europe-China relations. The Belt and Road Initiative aims to enable countries to build close political and economic partnerships for common development. Globalization is an unstoppable historical trend. Human society shares a common destiny. Countries should strengthen cooperation rather than choose confrontation, isolation or cruel competition, and should not try to divide the world by creating barriers.
